ABOUT THE PROJECT
The clients had a small open living/dining space that felt dark and dated. They also had an amazing interior brick fireplace, but the brick texture took up the majority of their television wall space, complete with a retro TV shelf, which is commonplace in many post mid-century homes. They didn’t have the budget to completely renovate the fireplace, and they wanted to keep the existing parquet flooring, so we decided to install a removable tongue and groove wall planking system to cover some of the brick and help delineate the TV wall from the fireplace. Because we could not remove the TV shelf, we decided to install a fun etagere/turn table cabinet for their amazing record collection. The clients also bravely decided to paint their cabinets a dark blue color (which helped complement their existing laminate countertops). The other furniture, including drapes in a similar tone to the cabinets, fell into place! We love how this space turned out!
